What Is The Typical Lens Replacement Surgery Recovery Time?
Lens replacement surgery is performed with local anaesthetic, and it doesn’t require an overnight stay at the hospital, meaning the recovery process can be done in the comfort of your own home.
Once this surgery has been completed, recovery can take up to two weeks and for the vision to be at its optimum.
Lens Replacement Surgery Aftercare Advice
After the surgery, you may feel slight discomfort and blurry vision. This is normal and can take a few days to subside – eye drops will be given to help with any discomfort and should be used as advised by your consultant. Vison will continue to improve within the first few weeks and many people can return to work after around three days, however, dusty or smoky working environments should be avoided for around two weeks after the surgery.

Here are a few handy lens replacement surgery aftercare tips for you to follow:
- Always wash your hands to ensure they are clean before touching your eye for any reason.
- Do not rub your eye.
- Painkillers and eye drops will greatly help your recovery process and are to be used under the advice of the consultant.
- Avoid getting water in your eye and wear your protective shield in the shower to stop soap or shampoo getting in.
- Do not go swimming for four-to-six weeks.
- Do not drive until you’ve had approval from our clinical care team.
