NHS Patient shares Optegra Eye Clinic cataract surgery story

8 August 2024

Alastair Kay from Worthing recently had NHS cataract surgery at Optegra Eye Clinic Brighton. He said, “I have been wearing hard contact lenses for 45 years, my eyesight is so bad without them.

“I like to play golf at my local club in Worthing but noticed that I have been losing sight of the ball in the distance which was affecting my game. I visited the optician to have my eyes tested and they said I had cataract in both eyes.”

Alastair was referred to Optegra Eye Clinic Brighton and had his first cataract removed. “The whole experience was excellent – the staff could not have done more to make me feel comfortable. The procedure was virtually painless and I was left with 20/20 vision in that eye.”

Two months later, keen to further improve his vision, Alastair returned to the clinic for surgery on his other eye. “Again, my Optegra experience was professional and caring.

“The best thing is, I don’t have to wear glasses or lenses anymore which is fantastic. And my golf game is improving, I don’t lose sight of the ball and my local handicap is going down. It’s a win-win situation for me and I’m delighted.”
