Stephen Lash

Biography

Mr Lash is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon specialising in Vitreo-retinal surgery and cataracts. Mr Lash trained as an optometrist in the early 90s in Birmingham (Aston University) and then went on to medical school in Southampton. He worked as a Locum Optometrist fulltime before medical school and then part-time throughout his medical training. After completing house jobs at Southampton University Hospital he trained in Ophthalmology, completing basic surgical training at Bournemouth eye unit and then Southampton eye unit.

His higher specialist training was undertaken on the Wessex rotation between Bournemouth, Portsmouth and Southampton. During the last two years of his surgical training he completed an MBA at Southampton Unviversity Business School. He completed a Vitreo-retinal fellowship at the prestigious Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne before gaining my consultant post at Southampton eye unit where he has been a consultant for 15 years.

Mr Lash is a published author on surgical skills and regularly teaches Medical students, Surgical trainees, fellow Consultants and local Optometrists.
