Biography

Ms Faraj completed her Ophthalmology training in the East Midlands Deanery/ Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. She started her specialised cornea and anterior segment training in Nottingham. She further specialised in the field of cornea during her corneal fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital.

She is particularly interested in ocular surface inflammation, dry eye and corneal infections. With an extensive research and teaching background, she has a master’s degree with distinction in Molecular Diagnostics. She also has a PhD researching ocular surface inflammation and corneal vascularisation. She has published extensively and presented in national and international meetings. She contributed for many years as a clinical lecturer and clinical assistant professor in the teaching of medical students in the University of Nottingham.

She is an experienced and high-volume cataract surgeon with special interest in complex cataract surgery and premium lenses.

Ms Faraj has a post graduate diploma in medical education and continues to teach medical students at the University of Nottingham. She was a college tutor at Royal Derby supporting the ophthalmology trainees in their training.
