Biography

Mr Aamir Ismailjee is one of the few eye surgeons in the World with dual qualifications in both Optometry and Ophthalmology. This has given him a wealth of knowledge and expertise in refractive treatments.

Following his initial training, he completed two prestigious fellowships in cornea and anterior segment surgery at Moorfields Eye Hospital before having a position there as a full time locum consultant ophthalmologist, specialising in cataract surgery. During this time he led a team of UK and international doctors who he trained in cataract surgery.

Based in London, the city in which he has lived his entire life, he develops strong relationships with his patients and receives fantastic feedback. His undergraduate education was from City University London where he qualified in Optometry with a special interest in refractive surgery. He received his degree in Medicine from the University of London having attended Barts and The London Medical School, during which time he received multiple prizes in undergraduate ophthalmology and passed his final examinations with a merit. His postgraduate foundation and specialty training has been with the London Deanery, passing every year consecutively with fantastic achievements.

In addition to this he holds the Certificate for Laser and Refractive Surgery issued by The Royal College of Ophthalmologists to surgeons competent in the theory required to perform laser eye surgery and clear lens exchange.

He has been heavily involved in teaching and training and has received a number of commendations from UCL Medical School for formal teaching that he has delivered to their undergraduate medical and post graduate masters students, following excellent feedback and standout recommendations from his students.

As a clinician he is passionate about giving his patients the best possible outcomes and experience, and this is reflected in all the wonderful feedback he has received. He has performed over 2,000 ophthalmic procedures and constantly achieves excellent outcomes for his patients. He is driven to always stay at the cutting edge of healthcare and hence attends multiple conferences each year. He is also actively involved with audit and scientific research, and has published in multiple journals.
