Biography

Mr. Alfaqawi is a dedicated ophthalmologist with a passion for cataract, cornea, and refractive surgery. His unwavering commitment is rooted in providing personalised, cutting-edge care, aiming to empower patients to achieve optimal outcomes and a higher quality of life. Regarded by both patients and colleagues alike, Mr. Alfaqawi is recognised for his compassionate approach and surgical prowess, delivering successful, life-changing procedures.

Embarking on his professional journey in 2015, Mr. Alfaqawi initiated his ophthalmology training in Birmingham before advancing to Liverpool for an extensive and comprehensive training period. Notably, his dedication and expertise were acknowledged with the prestigious NEOS (North of England Ophthalmological Society) oral presentation award.

Further enhancing his skills, Mr. Alfaqawi completed an intensive Refractive, Cornea, and Lens Surgery course at Miguel Hernández University in Spain. This experience added depth to his expertise and enriched his proficiency in advanced surgical techniques.

His illustrious career is adorned with prestigious titles, including FRCOphth (Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists) and FEBO (Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology). Additionally, Mr. Alfaqawi holds the esteemed Certificate of Laser and Refractive Surgery (CertLRS) designation, underscoring his commitment to excellence.

Mr. Alfaqawi’s dedication extends beyond his clinical practice. Serving as the RCOphth Simulation Champion, he played a pivotal role in establishing simulation programs, nurturing the skills of aspiring young ophthalmologists. His role as an examiner for the University of Liverpool and the Royal College of Ophthalmologists Fellowship Exam (FRCOphth) further exemplifies his commitment to shaping the future of the profession.

As a researcher, Mr. Alfaqawi has contributed to the field with publications in prestigious journals. His active participation in numerous national and international conferences, including ARVO, RCOphth, and Euretina, reflects his commitment to advancing ophthalmological knowledge. Notably, he serves as the Social Media Editor for the British Journal of Ophthalmology, contributing to the dissemination of information in the digital realm.
