As part of a network of dedicated eye hospitals throughout the UK and Europe, Optegra is helping to increase the number of patients who can access NHS care – and help reduce their waiting times for treatment to cataract.

The NHS waiting list for cataract surgery is larger than ever before, with some patients being told they will have to wait over a year. However, through NHS partnership with Optegra, GPs and opticians can refer patients to Optegra Newcastle for NHS treatment of cataract within just weeks.

Optegra Eye Clinic Newcastle is regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Optegra eye hospital group is rated five-star by independent review sites Doctify and Trustpilot and each hospital is overseen by the Medical Advisory Committee (MAC) to ensure we maintain our levels of quality, care and aftercare to the very highest standards.

Refer Your Patients Directly To Optegra:

Optegra, in partnership with Primary Eyecare Services on behalf of Northumberland Tyne and Wear LOC, have been working together to streamline the cataract referral process for your patients. Together, a pathway has been developed to introduce a Pre Cataract Assessment service prior to surgery for patients who choose to be seen by Optegra. This will run in parallel to the recently launched service in the area. This will provide an equitable service to all patients who are suitable for Cataract surgery, ensuring patients are fully informed and willing to proceed to surgery. The new services allow the same referral process for all Northumberland, North Tyneside and Newcastle Gateshead patients who require cataract surgery and will be run via the Opera platform using the current Pre Cataract Assessment module.
