- Dr O’Donnell is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at The University of Manchester which involves collaboration on interdisciplinary research projects (Optometry, Medicine, Materials Sciences), research papers and grant proposals, particularly in conjunction with Dr Hema Radhakrishnan
- Provision of supervision of PhD /Masters level research projects. Doctoral student Miss Ithar Beshtawi successfully defended her thesis recently on the structural and functional effects of corneal collagen cross-linking for keratoconus
- Delivering invited lectures to undergraduate/Masters students in the Faculty of Life and Health Sciences
- Dr O’Donnell and Dr Radhakrishnan have just appointed an Optegra post-doctoral Research Associate, funded by a Knowledge Transfer Partnership grant collaboration. The Research Associate will support the clinical team in the Optegra group of eye hospitals in running clinical trials and in the scientific evaluation of treatment outcome measures. The project is a collaborative effort between the Eye and Vision Sciences research group in the Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Manchester and Optegra Eye Sciences
- Optegra Eye Sciences helps organise ophthalmic training placements for The University of Manchester students. The optometry students are invited to spend time with our surgeons and our resident optometrist Ms Christa Gore, either in theatre or in clinic
